SHABTU

The ‘Shabtu’ Kit is composed of a modular wine carafe and four rounded cups. Together, they offer a reimagined, festive, and freeing interpretation of traditional *Shabbat utilities. In place of the usual ceremonial structure, and due to it's stackable structure, Shabtu invites a communal experience where each participant can take an equal part in the ritual, regardless of gender or age-related hierarchies.

Stacked neatly into a single, sculptural object, the set unfolds in a soft, spiraling motion—inviting a tactile ritual of assembly and gathering. The smooth, minimal forms evoke a sense of calm, making the kit feel both ceremonial and personal. While inspired by Jewish Shabbat practices, Shabtu is not confined to religious use. Traditionally, the Shabbat ritual is led by the eldest male in the household, who performs a blessing over a single cup of wine.
